Manufacturer of electric cars Tesla-CIS disseminated a press release according to which the company will establish a new generation Supercharger R&D station in Armenia in summer 2016.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk will pay a visit to Armenia in fall 2015 to hold negotiations.
According to Elon Musk, Tesla’s choice of Armenia was accounted by top-tier IT specialists there. In addition, Armenian authorities are seriously going to cooperate with Tesla.
Initial investments might make USD 2-3.5 million.
In case of successful negotiations, new generation Superchargers might be installed in several settlements in Armenia. They will be tested in high-altitude zones in the initial stage.
“Of course, that market is yet not formed in Armenia but we are going to install new generation Superchargers in a number of populated areas in Armenia, where most dynamic tourist flow is observed, for instance in Yerevan, Ejmiatsin, Tsakhkadzor, Jermuk and Tatev,” said Elon Musk.
Tesla was founded in 2003 and manufactures electric cars. It was named after world-renowned electrical engineer and physicist Nikola Tesla. Tesla has been manufacturing powerful Superchargers since 2012. As of February 28, 2015, there are 393 Supercharger stations operating globally.
